Biography: The Black Hotels
The Black Hotels are an indie rock band from Johannesburg, South Africa. Their first release, a five-track EP called Beautiful Mornings, made them one of the most critically acclaimed South African bands of 2007.
Beautiful Mornings received 4-star reviews in FHM, SL, People, Uncut, Zoo, You, Blunt and 24.com. GQ listed the record in its Top 15 records of 2007 and the singles Natalie and Beautiful Mornings both reached #1 on the 5FM Hi 5@5.
In May 2009 the group released their first full-length album titled Films for the Next Century.

In February 2010 Films for the Next Century was nominated for a South African Music Award for Best Alternative Album.
Their music has featured in the full length feature films White Wedding and Jozi, as well as publishing deals with Apple and Mr Price.
Event and festival appearances include Oppikoppi, Rocking the Daisies, Rocking the Gardens, On The Night, Earth Hour, XBox Summer Fest, The Unplugged Festival, Powerzone Summer Tour, Sovereign Express Summer Tour and more.
The group has also shared stages with some of South Africa’s leading live artists including The Parlotones, Prime Circle, Freshly Ground, Arno Carstens, Just Jinjer and Karen Zoid, as well as UK band Starsailor.
